EarSketch CSTA Song of the Summer Teacher DJ Hackathon

2020, Sponsored by Amazon Future Engineer

In collaboration with Amazon Future Engineer, EarSketch hosted the Song of the Summer Teacher Hackathon at the 2020 Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Annual Conference. The CSTA Teacher-DJ Hackathon facilitated teachers to experiment with and continue to gain exposure to EarSketch while creating the next summer song. Guided through the EarSketch coding process, teachers also learned and accessed resources to help implement EarSketch in their classrooms while competing to win prizes!

Summer songs have specific musical elements that you'll explore, including simple verses, high tempo and energetic. Songs of the summer may fall in a hip-hop genre, other years, it could be a Latin or Pop song. They also convey a message - be it about reminiscing cherished summer memories, or about inspirational events: Memorial Day, Independence Day...With some guidelines about what makes a song a summer hit, and some short exercises to get you started with EarSketch, you’ll be ready to compete in our CSTA 2020 Hackathon and have the resources to implement EarSketch in your classrooms!
